These were very simple for my kids to use. They just turned three and these were one of the first pairs of scissors that they've tried. I wouldn't say they're any better or worse than the other ones that we've tried. It did take a little bit for my kids to get used to the finger placement, but that is entirely due to their age and general skill set as they're just not used to scissors at all. These didn't cut through paper like butter, but that is also to be expected of toddler scissors. Any scissors that cut through paper easily are not to be trusted around children. I tested these out myself before giving to my kids of course and they passed every test. They couldn't cut my hair and more importantly they had no harmful effects on my skin or fingers.
